Car Light Painting

Light painting may not be the correct term here, but that is to an extent what I’ve done. I pulled my car into the middle of my garage (which has no windows), cut off all the lights, and ‘painted’ my car with a flashlight while the camera shutter was open for 10-20 seconds.

The pictures didn’t turn out quite as good as I’d hoped, but it’s still a neat effect. I tried several different light sources, ultimately settling on a lamp on the floor shining underneath the car and using the led flashlight from my iphone to paint the car. During the 20 second exposure I would walk from the front of the car to the back holding the phone at different heights and angles to paint different pieces of the car.

24 Hours of Lemons

A great weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 24 Hours of Lemons. In short, an endurance race of $500 cars. Yes you read that right. Basically a bunch of craigslist rust buckets on their last legs, fixed up by backyard mechanics, and run flat out for 14 hours (most laps wins).

The weather was wet, but that didn’t stop anybody from having fun. The speedway put us close to the action on the infield, but the entire area was surrounded by high fences. So unless you were able to stand on your RV, taking pictures was difficult. I was lucky enough to find a flag operator who let me share his tent for a few minutes. Overall most of the pictures were decent with a few I really like.
